Two houses with legs collide. Such figures frequently appear in Philippe Vandenberg's work in the late 1990s. Often, stones clash against each other in his drawings and paintings, symbolizing the inevitable conflict between people and the impossibility of escaping the vicious cycle of conflict. Vandenberg seems to suggest that even humans are incapable of empathizing with one another, portrayed as houses or stones.
