Bricks & Clicks #2: Christophe HERREROS, Antwan HORFÉE, Béranger LAYMOND, Florian VIEL

Ten pink and blue Gothic letters warn us that dogs are on the alert, they are watching us. The "Before Dogs" neon created by Christophe Herreros refers directly to « Beware of Dogs », a well known placards swarming in neighborhood Watch Area, those areas in which you are certain to be watched by a neighbor.

Neighborhoods where the promise of a healthy living environment, uniform and well thinking is challenged by the architectural models of Beranger Laymond,  which show the utopia of "middle-class" subdivisions. But as we take a closer look, we realize their layout plans come from… horror films.

Thus, to quietly observe the pool of one’s neighbors, Florian Viel proposes the use of a venetian blind. Quietly, at home, take advantage of this filter to find new prospects!

Finally, it is through waiting and watching that Antwan Horfée discusses the concept of surveillance. Will his inflatable mattresses, painted and crushed, resist to one’s perverse desires?

For this second edition of Bricks & Clicks, the reflection between physical and digital space continues with a proposal based on the concepts of surveillance and paranoia. It is clear that with the massive use of the Internet and social networks many of us are torn between our desire for freedom and the maintain of our Privacy: this exhibition is conceived as an allegory of this state of mind. Echoing the exhibition, the flow of the space surveillance camera will be broadcast live and available to the public on a dedicated website, 24/7.
