Les Dialogues Inattendus
Delprat / Marmottan, Conversation avec une table
The Marmottan Monet Museum invites the visual artist Hélène Delprat for its 5th edition of the Unexpected Dialogues. She has chosen - without turning her back on him - not to converse with Claude Monet, but strangely enough to speak at a table. That of the dining room. In its center, a surprising gilded bronze top, created by Pierre-Philippe Thomire, goldsmith under the Empire. What can we tell the Bacchantes, the putti and other naked goddesses who dance on this table?
We'll find out when we visit the space reserved for Les Dialogues Inattendus, which Hélène Delprat has transformed into a film setting that has more in common with the atmosphere of Chapeau Melon et bottes de cuir than with the grand bourgeois atmosphere of Paul Marmottan's private hotel. A large painting opens the exhibition and announces the color. "I'm going that way", says the big pink and black soldier with the head of a grotesque fetus. He goes into battle in the night to the left. He has forgotten the meaning of history. An army of black suns accompanies him.
Mirrors, stalactites, clay and paper objects, gold chains and swords, busts, models, vases recently decorated at the Manufacture de Sèvres, will be gathered on a too large table transformed into a theater of operations to discover from April 26 to October 16, 2022.
