LE CHAMP DES IMPOSSIBLES
Parcours art et patrimoine en Perche
29.04 — 04.06.2023
"The 2023 edition feeds the South Perche with a contemporary breath by investing fifteen heritage sites chosen in dialogue with the works presented. The route irrigates 70km of Vallons, from its epicenter, the Blanchard mill, crossing the communes of Perche-en-Nocé, Saint-Cyr-la-Rosière and Cour-Maurgis-sur-Huisne. Churches, beautiful residences and exhibition spaces are open to the public on weekends, while institutions such as the Perche Ecomuseum and the Perche Regional Nature Park are open all week. Twenty personal exhibitions around a unifying theme, the animal kingdom, offer a beautiful representation of the French scene, without forgetting to show the works realized by the artists in residence and by authors living in this territory rich in creators.
The Animal Kingdom, the transversal theme of this edition, raises the question of the future of animals with regard to the dictates imposed by man on other species, those with which he cohabits and socializes, those he raises and eats, those he admires and observes and/or sometimes still hunts and those he protects from extinction with regard to those he annihilates.
This theme, like that of the Tree in 2022, resonates with contemporary issues and exemplifies the different ways in which our society views and interacts with the animal world. The artistic scene abounds with a multitude of approaches underpinned by a desire to bear witness to and pay homage to this (these) parallel world(s). The glances are carried by the fascination for the wild and the infinite beauty of the species, the ceaseless dialectic between the animality of the man and the animal humanity, the denunciation of the violence, the militant wills for the protection of the species and also of course by the love and the "guilty" tenderness that each one carries to them. {...}"

JULIEN DES MONSTIERS
"For Julien des Monstiers, each painting constitutes a whole whose different ways of doing things are understood by a whole which gives them their meaning. A holistic painting, which cannot be reduced to the sum of its parts reduced to the sum of its parts and which escapes any definition pre-established.
Forms and gestures borrowed, without hierarchy, to the great narratives of the medium, but also to the history of its motives, that of the scenes of hunting, the floral decorations, the tapestries with a certain predilection for animal scenes.
A work painted on canvas or on wood, on the ground or on the wall, according to
necessities, in incessant back and forth. Prints by transfer, as he always does, but also precise gestures, slow or fast, made with brushes, of course, but also of various tools. Everything is to be seized for the artist who considers the frame as an object on which one can build, with the help of borrowings and inventions, his own territory."
