La première édition du Prix Duo décernée à Marina Gadonneix et à la galerie Christophe Gaillard

The first edition of the Duo Prize awarded to Marina Gadonneix and Galerie Christophe Gaillard. 

 

On the occasion of the 28th edition of Paris Photo, a new prize was inaugurated: the Duo Prize, which aims to reward the long-term relationship between an artist and their gallery. For the 2025 edition, the French photographer Marina Gadonneix and Galerie Christophe Gaillard (Paris / Brussels) were selected. As such, both the artist and the gallery each receive a €5,000 grant, and exhibitions will be organized in Paris and Lille.

 

This new prize, initiated by we are_, Les Echos Week-end and Paris Photo, celebrates long-standing relationships between artists and their galleries. With 72 applications submitted by galleries participating in Paris Photo (60% of which were international galleries), this first edition was awarded to French recipients: photographer Marina Gadonneix and her gallery, Christophe Gaillard. Until December 20, visitors can discover the artist’s exhibition “Geometries of the Mind – Latent Image” at the Paris gallery.

 

The Duo Prize offers the winners a €5,000 grant for the artist and €5,000 for the gallery; the acquisition by we are_ of Marina Gadonneix’s photograph Pyrite Cubique; dedicated exhibitions in Paris and Lille; a gallery–artist talk at we are_; and national visibility through Les Echos Week-end.

The jury, chaired by Marin Karmitz—producer and director, founder of MK2, collector and patron—was composed of: Marta Gili (art historian, former director of the Jeu de Paume and former director of the École nationale supérieure de la photographie), Diane Dufour (director and co-founder of LE BAL), Olivier Goy (entrepreneur and collector, founder of October), Michèle Warnet (journalist at Les Echos), Olivier Bourdelas (collector and patron, art advisor at we are_ and member of the board of the Maison Européenne de la Photographie), and Florence Bourgeois (director of Paris Photo).
