Cate Giordano creates sculptures, makes videos, and performs under various states of disguise. They weave melodramatic narratives inspired by news stories, social dynamics, and contemporary issues, which they develop within sculptural environments made from humble materials. Their sculptures—crafted from cardboard, wood, and loosely stitched fabric—form makeshift dioramas where the artist, in disguise, embodies the characters of the stories they reenact.

Giordano is interested in the artifice of media and the omissions in historical narratives. They exploit the tension between objects and performers to subvert storytelling conventions, inviting the viewer to question established truths.
