Nancy Brooks Brody American, 1962-2023

Nancy Brooks Brody (1962–2023) was an American artist and activist. Trained at the High School of Music & Art and the School of Visual Arts in New York, she was a founding member of fierce pussy, a feminist and lesbian art collective. She was a prominent advocate for the recognition of LGBT+ rights during the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Her work has been shown at the ICA – Institute of Contemporary Art in Philadelphia (US), the New Museum (New York, USA), the Brooklyn Museum (New York, USA), the FRAC Haute-Normandie (Sotteville-lès-Rouen, France), and most recently in the exhibition Exposé·es at the Palais de Tokyo (2023, Paris, France). Her works are held in public collections in both the United States and France, including the Contemporary Arts Center (Cincinnati, Ohio), the Museum of Contemporary Art (Los Angeles, USA), the FRAC Normandie (France), the Fonds National d'Art Contemporain (Paris, France), and the Centre Pompidou (Paris, France).
