Katarzyna Kozyra | Model World

Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw, Poland

The artist’s monographic exhibition at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw

At her latest exhibition, Katarzyna Kozyra returns to the role of a sculptor, working with this medium for the first time since the “Pyramid of Animals”. The installation, created especially for the exhibition at the Institute of Industrial Design, consists of several hundred objects used by the artist in her projects. It is an unexpected summary of Kozyra’s 25 years in art.

The “Model World” exhibition presents Katarzyna Kozyra’s artistic output not as an ordered list of individual projects, but as a portrait of the repeating situation around them. The title refers to an ideal situation in which the exhibition is an opportunity for communication between the artist and the viewer. For both sides it always surrounded by the atmosphere of tension, fear and expectations. But even if this meeting is uncomfortable, it is always desirable. Thus, the main protagonist of the exhibition is this elusive moment, a freeze-frame of the collision between the viewer, her art and the artist herself.

At the exhibition at the Institute of Industrial Design in Warsaw you will be able to see over 250 original objects used by Katarzyna Kozyra in her most famous projects, including in “Olympia”, “Bathhouse”, “Men’s Bathhouse”, “Punishment and Crime”. During the exhibition, on the website katarzynakozyra.pl you will be able to see the full version of all her video projects and read about the history and circumstances of the creation of each.
